Software has become the unlikely hero of the Australian economy with the local industry continuing to go from strength to strength, both at home and in international markets.
And that’s no surprise, with companies like Atlassian and Canva global leaders in business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) software now commanding billions of dollars in annual revenues.
But for every Atlassian, there are a countless more players, each with a unique value proposition, already in a league of their own or soon to take off, creating a vibrant industry in Australia.

Humanetix is a Canberra-based startup focused on developing cutting-edge technology solutions to support Australians later in life. Founded in 2011, the company offers an intelligent care delivery platform that provides a platform for point-of-care management, decision-making and workflow.
The platform, Aged Care Ecosystem (ACE), is currently used in residential aged care and hospital settings, as well as by National Disability Insurance Scheme providers
Data Zoo offers a complete know-your-customer solution, allowing companies to reduce fraud and comply with regulations, while also improving the customer’s experience. Built on globally recognised standards, and with privacy-by-design principles built in, the solution streamline ID verification, with customer identity data deleted when onboarding is complete.
The Sydney-based startup, which counts online investment platform eToro and Experian as customers, has been rated one of the fastest growing tech companies in Australia two years running.
Fivecast is the creator of Onyx, an open source intelligence solution used by national security, defence and law enforcement clients. The AI-infused software – which took out the award last year – is capable of sift through unprecedented amounts of digital data and receive deep, actionable insights.
The Adelaide-based company touts the platform as a scalable solution with the power to quickly increase the vision of its clients’ targets without the need for extra staff.
