Accenture backs enforceable code of conduct for tech suppliers

One of the government’s biggest tech service providers has proposed an annual review of suppliers and says it would welcome new rules and an enforceable code of conduct in contracts after confirming it operates without specific consulting regulations.

Accenture on Tuesday gave evidence to Parliament that it is subject to more controls than scandal-plagued Big Four consultancies because it is a public company, is not also offering audit work, and is subject to some corporate regulations.

But local boss Peter Burns acknowledged there is a significant gap in oversight of management consultants in Australia because there is no single regulatory body for their ethics and professional accountability.
