Aged care tech deadline softened as costs mount

As the federal government approaches the deadline for providers to connect with its $150 million aged care software, an unexpected shift to phased requirements is raising questions and suppliers’ bills.

US software giant Salesforce last month tacked another $12 million onto its contract with the Department of Health and Aged Care for software licences and services for the Government Provider Management System (GPMS).

At a cost almost $150 million to build and operate, the new provider system ushers in a new era of reporting and information sharing for a new Aged Care Act in force from July.
