A program to re-source $3.7 billion worth of managed technology services at the tax office has been marred by conflicts of interest involving the agency’s chief information officer and his former employer, Accenture.
Accenture, which bid for five of the seven bundles of technology work under the program, secured the biggest contract after a late change to reconsider its bid during what dragged into a two year tender.
It came amid an inconsistent approach to conflicts of interest at the ATO that eventually saw senior management stepping in to control procurement decisions.
