Australia’s Economic Accelerator stalls

An ambitious research commercialisation program for universities has suffered an early delay after the pilot phase was inundated with 358 grant applications seeking ten times the available funding.

Final funding decisions on up to $10 million in grants have been pushed back by at least a month to cope, shortening the pilot’s window before Australia’s Economic Accelerator scheme begins in earnest later this year.

The likely 300-plus unsuccessful applicants are being urged to resubmit proposals to future stages of the decade-long program.
