Charlton says AI standards months in the making

Assistant technology minister Andrew Charlton says the federal government has been developing a set of mandatory AI standards for at least the last five months, with the groundwork dating back to March.

The revelation comes as state and territory leaders arrive in Sydney to thrash out the proposed AI standards at what is shaping up to be a fiery National Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
