Creaking state servers expose ‘crown jewels’ tech applications

NSW and Victorian government agencies are running swathes of unsupported legacy infrastructure, at times without formal risk assessment and planning despite the systems housing so called “crown jewels” applications.

The outdated systems are revealed in two new audits of the states’ technology controls, both tabled Wednesday with warnings that the legacy tech is increasing cyber risks.
