Australia’s digital identity scheme remains “stuck between an old world and a new world” despite major changes to its technical design to improve fraud detection and boost adoption.
That’s according to digital ID expert Stephen Wilson, who says the underpinning assumptions of the Australian Government Digital Identity System (AGDIS) are increasingly outdated.
“What the system is really in desperate need of is a root-and-branch redesign to solve a different set of problems,” Mr Wilson, the founder of local consulting firm Lockstep, told InnovationAus.com.
