DISR dissolves quantum branch, folds function into broader unit


The Industry department has quietly disbanded its dedicated quantum arm and folded it into a new critical technologies unit, prompting concerns the policy area is being de-emphasised by government.

The decision has been put down to a need to better align quantum policy with Australia’s six other critical technologies, including biotech, robotics and clean energy technologies.
