The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) will be forced to move out of its current tenancy at 241 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills when its contract lease agreement ends in April.
The DTA has been located at its current Surry Hills location since it was established in 2016 by then-Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to guide, oversee and drive the government’s digital and ICT agendas.
At the time, Paul Shetler, who was appointed to head up the agency, chose to specifically position the DTA outpost in Surry Hills, an inner-Sydney suburb known to be home to many local startups, as a cultural signal the Australian government was ready to engage with the startup community for digital solutions.
When the DTA moves around the corner to its new office to 280 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills in May, it will continue to run its co-lab and host events, training and communities of practice. The new office will be a comparable size to the existing 241 Commonwealth Street location, and cost of lease will not be too dissimilar.
In preparation of the move, the DTA has submitted a request for tender for a supplier to assist it with its ICT and property relocation and installation.
The tender paper said the successful supplier will be required to supply and install various ICT hardware, such as soft wiring and umbilicals, remove and reinstall network switches. The supplier will also be required to coordinate with DTA’s telecommunications carrier, NextGen.
