Early Career Researcher boost in ARC grants overhaul

New standalone schemes for ambitious exploratory research ideas and early career researchers will be part of generational changes to publicly funded research grant programs.

The schemes were locked in on Monday by the Australian Research Council (ARC), as its review of the National Competitive Grants Program slipped by three months.

The agency also confirmed its grants for mid-career and senior career researchers will soon focus on projects and mentorship rather than salaried fellowships, while a sub scheme will continue to fund collaborative infrastructure in major projects.
