Fix R&D fall and tax miners, IMF tells Chalmers

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has been urged by the International Monetary Fund to focus on lifting research and development expenditure and leverage technologies like artificial intelligence to drive innovation and productivity.

In an economic blueprint for Canberra from the Washington-based IMF there are also calls for a resource revenue tax as part of “comprehensive tax reform” and discipline in the Future Made in Australia policy.
