Google has introduced a feature in Australia that lets you choose which news publishers appear in your search results, allowing you to create your own personalised innovation feed.
The feature allows you to surface the sources you trust first, rather than relying on the platform’s default algorithm to decide what you read.
For Australia’s independent tech and innovation publishers, it is a powerful tool that ensures a more diverse range of perspectives reaches you.
Adding a preferred source takes about ten seconds. Click this link and tick the box next to InnovationAus.com.
Or, if you’d rather do it manually:
- Search for a news topic, such as quantum computing
- Navigate to “Top Stories” and click on the icon resembling two overlapping cards with a star, to the right of the section
- Search for InnovationAus.com and select it as a preferred source
- Reload the results to see a ‘From your sources’ breakout with your preferences
