The Minns government is being urged to carry on the state’s pursuit of “ubiquitous connectivity” by partnering with industry and innovators to overcome the digital divide with a complex technology mix of base stations, satellites and antennas.

Connectivity experts will on Tuesday call on the government to support certain emerging technologies and novel applications of established solutions to improve access for remote and regional communities, aid disaster responses and lay the foundations for smart cities and industry transformation.

Director of the government-backed Connectivity Innovation Network (CIN) and co-author of a new report calling for the support, Dr Ian Oppermann, said the state government must not shy away from what will be a complex challenge.
