NSW’s ‘leading step’ to capture data centre investment welcomed

Australia’s biggest data centre operators have welcomed a NSW government proposal to speed up planning approval times for major projects, as the race to secure the next generation of data centres heats up.

NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey on Monday revealed $17.7 million for the creation of an Investment Delivery Authority, following analysis showing energy and data centre projects are being held up in the planning system

Modelled on the Housing Delivery Authority, the new authority is expected to accelerate the planning process, by coordinating the government agencies involved in the planning approvals process, and identifying barriers to private investment.
