Tasmanian Senator Claire Chandler has been elevated to the shadow cabinet, taking on key technology-related portfolios being vacated by Paul Fletcher, who will leave politics at the looming federal election.

Opposition leader Peter Dutton appointed Senator Chandler as shadow minister for Government Services and the Digital Economy and shadow minister for Science and the Arts as part of a frontbench reshuffle.

Senator Chandler is one of two women promoted to the shadow cabinet, along with the Member for Lindsay in Sydney’s west Melissa McIntosh, who was appointed as shadow minister for Communications.
