SAP’s new whole-of-government contract is valued at around a third of what was being paid under the previous arrangement, an agreement that was also several years longer, fuelling speculation of a new approach to volume sourcing.

Despite what appears to be a smaller and shorter arrangement, the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) says the approach to whole-of-government (WoG) tech deals has not changed.

InnovationAus.com can reveal the new three-year, $151 million agreement with SAP announced last week includes three one-year extension options and additional agencies will still be able to join an initial pool of 24 government entities that are covered by the arrangement.
