The largest enterprise resources planning overhaul underway in the federal government — and across the Southern Hemisphere — has reached a significant milestone in its six-year history.
After being forced to delay an earlier cutover attempt in September, Defence went live with the main release for its $3.5 billion ERP program earlier this month, ending a transition process it has been planning for more than two years.
The delayed main release, first planned for mid-2023, brings together finance, procurement, supply chain management, and land maintenance and engineering under a single SAP S/4 HANA system, replacing dozens of outdated and siloed legacy systems.
