Senate committee green lights stronger eSafety powers

A Senate committee has given the green light to social media ban reforms that would double fines for tech companies and introduce new information gathering powers for Australia’s digital safety watchdog.

But Coalition and crossbench Senators have repeated past criticisms of the laws and the ban itself, labelling them a rush job and insisting more work is needed to protect children and adults in online spaces.
