Senate committee looks at Defence support for local industry

The Senate’s Defence, Foreign Affairs and Trade Legislative Committee has set up an inquiry into the performance of the Defence department in supporting the capacity and capability of Australia’s defence industry.

The inquiry comes in the wake of the release of the Defence Strategic Review, and widespread concern about Defence innovation, and the structure of its engagement with the defence industry.

The committee has called for submissions by July 14, with the reporting date for the inquiry set for the last sitting day of March 2024. The dates for public hearing have not yet been set.
