Services Australia has locked in more than $700 million in contracts with Telstra and Optus to secure telecommunications capable of handling billions of transactions over the coming years.

The final piece – a range of data carriage services from Telstra worth $41 million – began last month, rounding out a five-pronged,  nearly two-year procurement program that locks in core services into the next decade.

Optus won the biggest contract last year, ousting Telstra from Services Australia’s contact centre delivery work after more than a decade to secure $582 million.
