Services Australia tech chief heads for the exit

Services Australia CIO Charles McHardie is leaving the agency for the Reserve Bank of Australia after more than six years running Canberra’s biggest IT shop.

Mr McHardie will take on the chief information officer job at the central bank from October as it battles an overhaul of the country’s most important payment system.

He is replacing longtime RBA CIO Stephen Smith, who retired last month.
