Businesses operating from the Sydney Startup Hub can breathe a sigh of relief after the New South Wales government confirmed the co-working space in the heart of the city would continue to operate.
But the hub, which is home to Stone & Chalk, Fishburners and Tank Stream Labs, has received an undisclosed Budget haircut that will see fewer startup programs run out of the 17,000sqm York Street site.
In the lead up to this week’s state Budget, reports emerged that the Sydney Startup Hub was one of several innovation programs that would lose funding – undisclosed cuts which the new Minns government said were made by the former Coalition government before it shipped out.
