Creative and media groups on Tuesday rejected claims the current copyright regime cannot enable artificial intelligence training in Australia and warned policymakers had been deceived by a furious lobbying campaign in Canberra.

AI firms Anthropic and OpenAI are looking to establish their first major training hubs outside the US in Australia but have claimed the current copyright regime creates too much complexity and legal uncertainty.
