Twitter switches off misinformation reporting feature

Twitter has disabled a feature allowing users to report potentially misleading information on the social media platform, just weeks out from the vote for constitutional recognition of First Nations people.

Digital rights group Reset Australia discovered the change earlier this week, with users of the platform, now known as X, no longer able to select “It’s misleading about ‘Politics’ category” to report content in at least five countries, including Australia and the United States.

Content that falls within the categories of hate, abuse & harassment; violent speech; child safety; privacy; spam; suicide or self-harm; sensitive or disturbing media; deceptive identities’; and violent & hateful entities can still be reported.
