In October 2021, The Australian Government announced The Ransomware Action Plan. The plan put forward a range of measures to battle the scourge of ransomware, including the introduction of standalone offences and – most notably – proposed mandatory reporting of ransomware attacks by businesses with turnover in excess of $10 million a year. Nick Abrahams, Global Co-leader, Digital Transformation Practice, Norton Rose Fulbright Australia and Nick Lennon, VP, APAC for leading email security and cyber resilience company Mimecast, had a fireside chat about the plan and what else needs to happen to harden the cybersecurity posture of Australian organisations of all sizes. This article was produced in partnership with Mimecast. Nick Lennon is a member of the InnovationAus Leadership Council.
