Federal agencies will have 12 months to put in place protocols that mandate risk assessments for new AI deployments and bolster oversight with another layer of accountability.
That’s according to the latest update to the policy for the responsible use of AI in government, which will also now require that agencies have either a standalone AI strategy or update existing tech strategies with their “strategic approach to adopting AI”.
