How NSW govt is embracing digital payments


The New South Wales government is readying plans to complete its transition to Australia’s real-time payments system, with the digital foundations that will enable the shift already in place at several key agencies.

NSW Treasury is three years into a program of work designed to deliver faster, more efficient payments to citizens, businesses and suppliers by replacing internal systems and doing away with traditional payment methods like cheques.

“Our system has traditionally been anchored at the agency level,” Lynne Cardwell, NSW Treasury’s executive director for banking and financial services, told InnovationAus.com in an interview.
