Australia’s universities are warning an ambitious plan to get innovations into the hands of war fighters as quickly as possible must come with a more strategic approach that creates a “pipeline” of asymmetric advantage and enduring research collaboration.
With the new Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA) last month taking charge of $3.4 billion in defence industry and research funding, stakeholders are pushing for it to give stronger signals and more sustainable partnerships than the funding vehicles it replaces.
