The idea that it could take more than two years to come up with a definition for what constitutes an Australian company would be considered laughable by right-minded Australians. How hard can it be?

But that is how long it has taken the Australian government to agree on its own understanding of what an Australian company is.

It is a measure of how tough the battle has been for a share of the $75 billion that government spends on annual procurement.
