The Semiconductor Sector Service Bureau (S3B) officially launched in Sydney on Wednesday night, aiming to help plug Australian businesses into a booming global supply chain by connecting industry and exploiting Australia’s research excellence.

After a year of set up, S3B launches armed with an agreement with a global supplier, offering a way into giant foundries like TSMC, and a software deal to lower barriers for the next generation of engineers.

S3B was born out of a 2020 study of the local semiconductor sector by the NSW Office of the Chief Scientist. It identified potential for the small but promising sector to move from adoption to innovation and IP creation in a global market expected to reach US$1 trillion.
