Tech wrecks, $15bn industry fund shortlisted for audits

Multi-billion dollar tech projects across Defence and the Tax Office as well as the government’s protocols for keeping them on track could go under the audit office’s microscope later this year, while promised change at the Digital Transformation Agency could also get a check.

The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) has published a draft work program for 2024-25, revealing a shortlist of government initiatives for scrutiny that also includes digital identity, grant programs and the Albanese government industry funding policy.

ANAO audits have previously uncovered poor procurement practices and project administration, and typically come with recommendations for change and further scrutiny for agencies.
