Victoria looks set to ramp up its use of artificial intelligence in regulatory decisions, with the state government revealing plans to use the technology to replace “outdated processes” as part of an $11 million program of work.
The program comes as the government foreshadows greater use of automation to help “right-size expenditure” and bring its public service back to pre-pandemic staff levels.
Budget papers released on Tuesday show the government expects to find $3.3 billion in savings over the forward estimates, most of which will fall in the 2027-28 and 2028-29 financial years.
