In conversation with InnovationAus.com publisher Corrie McLeod, this panel delves deep into the innovation system issues that hold back development in disparate sectors from the new green hydrogen frontier to next-generation hypersonic scramjet engines.

Port of Newcastle chair and CSIRO director Roy Green gives a masterclass on the need to take a system-level view of innovation. Hypersonix CEO David Waterhouse discusses the difficulties faced by dual-use technology companies and the disconnect between the Defence and Industry portfolios.

And Jehan Kanga discusses new technology that would enable hydrogen to power hard-to-abate sectors like long-haul trucking. This panel was moderated by Corrie McLeod.

Roy Green collaborated on a Capability Paper with Dr Marina Yue Zhang, an Associate Professor at the UTS Australia-China Relations Institute, and Professor Mark Dodgson, currently Emeritus Professor at the University of Queensland and Executive-in-Residence at the University of Oxford. Their paper was titled Redefining our national innovation mission.

David Waterhouse contributed a paper titled Bridging the funding gap between Defence and Industry.

Jehan Kanga’s Capability Paper was titled In this defining decade, our energy choices are critical.
