Governments must learn to “ride the wave” of artificial intelligence, according to NSW digital minister Jihad Dib, who has talked up the huge productivity benefits the technology presents.
Speaking at the Digital NSW Showcase on Wednesday, Mr Dib positioned AI as the way to “get to that next step” in service delivery, ensuring governments keep pace with rising community expectations.
But he said that it will be important to do so ethically and responsibly, pointing to work underway to build on existing guardrails through a review that could eventually lead to state-based legislation.
