The Industry 4.0 Award at the InnovationAus 2023 Awards for Excellence is sponsored by the METS Ignited Industry Growth Centre, a category that drew the cream of the crop, with three distinctly different finalists vying for the award: SIMPaCT, Voltin; and XIoT Tag.

Increasing interconnectivity and smart automation has spurred a raft of technological advances for industry, manufacturing processes and the broader society.

Robotic autonomation is a core component of this competition-heavy category, but entries also extended to other sensor-based automation activities within smart cities.

These include Internet of Things devices, construction tech, emergency and response mechanisms, transport tech and PropTech.

Three finalists have been awarded for the category:

SIMPaCT – Winner of the Internet of Things Awards 2023 for both the Research and IoT for Good awards, SIMPaCT Australia provides smart irrigation management for cities and cool towns, partnering with Sydney Water, Sydney Olympic Park Authority, Monash University, Western Sydney University, and others, in the process.

Voltin – Nominated for its building façade condition assessment, Voltin is an innovative facade assessment system capable of high-resolution visual data capture for high-rise buildings in dense population areas.

XIoT Tag – In the business of livestock health and welfare motoring, the XIoT smart cattle health tag provides farmers with the ability to track and monitor the movement and statistics of their game and cattle, continuously, across vast areas of land. Simply put, it turns cattle data into actionable insights.
