Govt urged to subsidise SMEs’ AI uptake

The Albanese government is being urged to repurpose and increase a Coalition government-era tax break to drive artificial intelligence into small and medium businesses, as it searches for adoption levers.

Businesses with an annual turnover of less than $50 million would be handed a 50 per cent tax break on investments in AI adoption under the updated scheme, put forward in a Deloitte report for Amazon on Tuesday.
