Employment minister Amanda Rishworth on Wednesday backed her department to deliver a fair welfare compliance system in the next iteration of Australia’s employment services model, despite serious legal doubts about the current version.
She said those concerns are being addressed now and pledged a more contextualised use of automated decision-making in the new model, which will retain a compliance focus but adjust the application of mutual obligations.
